Jennifer Nevarez spoke in Chicago this week on behalf of "Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico" at the national TechHire Roundtable and Charles Ashley presented on Cultivating Coders (our regional Training Partner) at the CloseIt Summit, hosted by Santa Fe's very own Jamai Blivin and Innovate+Educate... AND there was BIG national news for Computer Science Education this week.
A coalition of businesses agreed this week to give $300 million to support K-12 Computer Science (CS) programs across the U.S., and the White House committed $200 million per year to CS Education in America’s schools!
Reports indicate federal funds will be accessible to schools right away in support of expanding CS course offerings, launching CS programs in schools that have not offered them before, and increasing participation by women and underrepresented minorities.
New Mexico TechWorks is already working collaboratively in the region to expand Tech access and education. Contact us to learn more about national and local efforts...and how you can help. Also, be sure to check out our upcoming "Weekly What's What" for highlights from some of the local Tech programs, partners, and initiatives already underway or coming soon to a school...and community...near you!
