Everyone was invited to try an "Hour of Code"
with help from local students or our team of professional software developers.
The Event is free and open to the public. Anyone interested in trying an Hour of Code during the event needs to bring a personal SmartPhone, computer laptop, or tablet. Local Computer Science students and professional software developers will be on site to assist. Learn more about Computer Science programs in our region and see what our students are up to. FREE popcorn will be served, plus lots of good fun...and learning...for all ages!

GEAR UP New Mexico and its 11 New Mexico school districts and their College Engagement Organization (CEO) student leadership groups participated in the "Hour of Code" TM during Computer Science Education Week, December 5-11, 2016. The staff at GEAR UP New Mexico's central office at the New Mexico Higher Education Department in Santa Fe also participated in the "Hour of Code" TM .

New Mexico TechWorks launched regional efforts to accelerate our high-tech readiness
by joining the international “Hour of Code”TM campaign,
considered “the largest learning event in history.”

With help from students Ivan Ortega and Viviana Ornelas from Pinon Elementary
and Digital Coach Felicia Maestas from Santa Fe Public Schools,
plus code.org facilitator Paige Prescott,
who also serves as NM Computer Science Teachers Association President,
as well as Community Learning Network Director Jennifer Nevarez,
Mayor Gonzales became the first civic leader in Santa Fe
to try an “Hour of Code“TM... and
kicked off hundreds of coding events with thousands of students in our region
during National Computer Science Education Week, December 5- 11, 2016.
