We encourage EVERY school and community in our state
to try an "Hour of Code!"
"Hour of Code™"is a national initiative started by Code.org® to introduce millions of students to one hour of computer science and computer programming."
Code.org® is "a non-profit dedicated to expanding access to computer science, and increasing participation by women and underrepresented students of color. Code.org's vision is that "every student in every school should have the opportunity to learn computer science, and we believe computer science should be part of core curriculum, alongside other courses such as biology, chemistry or algebra."

Computer Science Matters!
National job openings in computing exceed 500,000,
but less than 43,000 computer science students entered the tech workforce this year.
This situation gets more alarming,
given the fact that 75% of our schools don’t even teach computer science,
and many tech jobs must be filled by employees from overseas.
Unfortunately, American students are being left behind.
New Mexico TechWorks and
the Computer Science Teacher's Association of New Mexico,
however, are doing something about it.
